10 Hygiea

10 Hygiea is a large C-type asteroid, or a possible dwarf planet in the asteroid belt. It is the fourth largest asteroid in the Solar System, measuring 434 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered in April 1849 by Annibale de Gasparis. Observations by the Very Large Telescope in 2017 and 2018 revealed that Hygiea is nearly spherical and close to hydrostatic equilibrium.
