Transit Research and Attitude Control
The Transit Research and Attitude Control (TRAAC) satellite is a US Navy space mission dedicated to test the feasibility of using gravity-gradient stabilization in Transit navigational satellites. Launched in November 1961, it continued to send data until August 1962 after being damaged by the Starfish Prime space nuclear test, and it will remain derelict in LEO for another 800 years
