12P/Pons–Brooks is a large Halley-type comet with an orbital period of 71 years. Discovered in 1812, it is one of the brightest known periodic comets ever discovered, where it reached magnitude 3.8 during its most recent perihelion on April 2024. It will next return to the inner Solar System around August 2095.
