C/1996 B2 (Hyakutake), also known as the "Great Comet of 1996", is a long-period comet discovered in January 1996. It passed just 0.104 AU away from Earth on 1996-Mar-25, reaching an apparent visual magnitude of 0, where it became clearly visible to the naked eye.
