HD 144844, also known as HIP 79098 and HR 6003, is a multiple star system in the constellation Scorpius, located about 477 light-years away. The system consists of a B9-type main-sequence star (component A) with a close spectroscopic low-mass companion at 1.86 ± 0.56 AU (mass 0.53 ± 0.26 M☉, either a red dwarf or a white dwarf), plus two additional M dwarfs at separations of 9,555 AU (M5V) and 12,900 AU (M3.25V). A superjovian companion with a mass approximately 20 ± 4 times that of Jupiter was discovered via direct imaging in 2019, orbiting both the B9 star and its close low-mass companion (i.e., circumbinary) at a wide separation of about 345 ± 6 AU.
