311P/PANSTARRS (P/2013 P5) is an active asteroid/comet in the main belt, discovered on 2013-Aug-27. It is notable for having several comet-like tails, suggesting the ejection of streams of material and debris. In 2018, analysis of its light curve revealed evidence suggesting it may be an eclipsing binary system. It will be visited by the CNSA's Tianwen-2 spacecraft, which will rendezvous with 311P in January 2035.

In 2018, Jewitt et al. proposed, based on a V-shaped light curve, evidence that 311P is a possible eclipsing binary system. Although not fully confirmed, this scenario is simulated here
