Beta Aurigae, also known as Menkalinan, is a binary star system about 81 light-years away in the constellation Auriga. The two components are A-type subgiant stars orbiting each other every 3.96 days in an Algol-type eclipsing binary. Its combined apparent visual magnitude is 1.9, making it the second-brightest star in Auriga after Capella. No exoplanets have been confirmed orbiting this system.
