Comet ISON, formally known as C/2012 S1, was a sungrazing comet from the Oort cloud discovered on 2012-Sept-21 by Vitaly Nevsky (Belarus) and Artyom Novichonok (Russia). It was initially predicted to become a bright comet by November 2013, however it didn't survive its perihelion and disintegrated instead
