CFHTWIR-Ophiuchi 98, also known as CFHTWIR-Oph 98 or Oph 98, is a binary system consisting of two young, free-floating planetary-mass objects located about 450 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus. The primary component, Oph 98 A, is a young brown dwarf with a mass of approximately 15 times that of Jupiter. Its companion, Oph 98 B, has a mass of approximately 8 times that of Jupiter. The pair was discovered via direct imaging using the Hubble Space Telescope in 2020, orbiting each other at a very wide separation of about 200 AU. With a system age of only 3 million years, Oph 98 has the weakest binding energy of any binary system known to date.
