Magellan was a NASA space probe launched on May 1989 to map the surface of Venus by using synthetic-aperture radar and to measure the planet's gravitational field. It was the first interplanetary spacecraft deployed from a Space Shuttle, and to this day, the Venusian maps it generated are the most detailed ever created. The spacecraft arrived on Venus on 1990-Aug-10, and mapped the entire planet until 1994-Oct-13
