Tiangong 1 and 2 were the first space stations operated by China. Like the Salyut series before Mir, they served as testbeds for their modular space station that was eventually launched in 2021. A total of four Shenzhou and one Tianzhou missions visited the two space stations during their cumulative operational history from 2011 to 2019
