The Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO) is a NASA space telescope launched aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-93 by NASA on 1999-Jul-23. Observing the universe mainly in x-ray light, it is the third of the Great Observatories launched, after Hubble and Compton. Its mission is still ongoing as of 2024
