Megjelenés dátuma:
PSR J2322-2650 is a millisecond pulsar located about 750 light-years away in the constellation Sculptor . A Jupiter-mass planet with a 7.8-hour orbital period was discovered via pulsar timing in 2017, whose planet has a mass of approximately 0.79 times that of Jupiter and a semi-major axis of 0.0102 AU . The planet is strongly irradiated and tidally distorted into an ellipsoidal (lemon) shape . Recent JWST observations revealed that its atmosphere is predominantly helium and molecular carbon (C₂ and C₃), with very low hydrogen content — a composition that remains unexplained by current planetary formation models .
