HD 179949, also known as Gumala, is a single F8V-type main-sequence star about 88 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius. A hot Jupiter with a 3.09-day orbital period was discovered via the radial velocity method in 2000, whose planet has a mass of approximately 0.92 times that of Jupiter.
