C/2024 S1 (ATLAS) was a Kreutz sungrazer comet that was discovered in late September 2024. It was initially thought to become a bright naked eye comet about two weeks after Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. However, a series of outbursts led to its complete disintegration during perihelion on 28 October 2024
