The twin Double Star satellites, also known as Tan Ce, were a joint CNSA/ESA space mission launched in 2004 dedicated in studying the Earth's magnetosphere, the first such space mission for China. It follows the footsteps of the European Cluster-II satellites by studying the effects of the Sun on the Earth's environment. Only the second satellite is still operational to this day, as the first one was deorbited following ESA's withdrawal in 2007
