The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, also known as TESS and Explorer 95, is a NASA space telescope designed to search for exoplanets using the transit method in an area 400 times larger than that covered by the Kepler mission. Launched in 2018, TESS has discovered 482 new exoplanets, in addition to 7,203 planet candidates yet to be confirmed (as of July 2024).
