C/2013 A1 (Siding Spring) is an Oort Cloud comet that is notable for passing by very close to Mars on 2014-Oct-19. On that day, the comet encountered the Red Planet at a distance of 140,000 km. Its nucleus is estimated to be around 700-800 m in diameter
