341843 (2008 EV₅)
Release date:
2008 EV₅ is a near-Earth asteroid discovered on March 4, 2008. It is believed to have originated from a much larger body in the asteroid belt, so after some cratering or rupture event, the fragments generated may have created 2008 EV₅. On December 23, 2008, it passed 8.4 lunar distances from Earth (0.022 AU, 3.2 million km). This asteroid was considered a possible target for NASA's Asteroid Redirect Mission, but the mission was canceled in 2017.
