C/2024 L5 (ATLAS)

C/2024 L5 (ATLAS) is a comet discovered on 2024-Jun-14. Previously having a retrograde and centaur-like orbit, a close encounter with Saturn on 2022-Jan-24 placed it on a Solar System escape trajectory (hyperbolic). It is predicted to reach perihelion in 2025-Mar-10, in addition to passing within 0.6 AU of Jupiter in August 2026.
