Description: Luna 9 was a soviet space probe intended to land on the surface of the Moon. Launched on January 31, 1966, it landed gently on the Moon on February 3, 1966 and became the first successful Moon landing. The probe took photographs from the surface of the Moon until three days after its landing. The last contact with the probe took place on February 6, 1966.
