Phobos-Grunt is a Russian space probe that aimed to collect samples from the surface of Mars' moon Phobos. It was launched November 8, 2011, but the rocket burn that was supposed to send the probe towards Mars failed, and Phobos-Grunt was stuck in Earth orbit. As a consequence, the mission failed and the probe crashed into Earth's atmosphere on January 15, 2012.
