KELT-10

KELT-10 A is a subgiant star that is slightly younger, hotter, and brighter than the Sun (about 1.4 times the Sun's luminosity). It is approaching the end of its main-sequence phase and will soon enter the red giant phase. KELT-10 Ab belongs to the category of "highly inflated hot Jupiters"—its mass is less than Jupiter's, but its radius is larger than Jupiter's. This inflation is usually caused by high stellar radiation. Since the host star is in the subgiant phase, it will expand into a red giant over the next few hundred million years, and KELT-10 Ab is likely to be engulfed by the star. As one of the brighter transit systems in the southern hemisphere, KELT-10 Ab is a candidate for atmospheric characterization studies. However, high-resolution spectroscopic observations have not detected sodium (Na I) or hydrogen (Hα) signals in its atmosphere.
