Delorme 1

Release date:

Delorme 1, also known as 2MASS J01033563-5515561 (AB) and TYC 8474-204-1, is a binary star system of two M5.5-type pre-main-sequence stars about 154 light-years away in the constellation Phoenix. A planetary-mass companion with a mass approximately 12~14 times that of Jupiter was discovered via direct imaging in 2013, orbiting the binary pair at a projected separation of about 84 AU. The object hosts a circumplanetary disk with a carbon-rich atmosphere, featuring strong emission from HCN and C₂H₂, while oxygen-bearing species such as CO, CO₂, and H₂O are notably absent, suggesting an elevated C/O ratio. Extended H₂ emission indicates outflow activity consistent with a disk wind.
