The "Red" Planet as seen by the Mariner probes during their visit in 1969 (Mariner 6 and 7) and 1972 (Mariner 9). The first ever global maps of Mars are made in B&W due to the probes lacking a color camera at the time. These maps were obtained digitally from The Planetary Society site
