The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) is a NASA/JAXA weather satellite launched in November 1997 to study the dynamics of tropical rainfall. It operated for nearly 18 years until it was decommissioned on April 2015, in turn reentering the atmosphere just two months later
