Chang'e 4 is a Chinese space probe that achieved the very first landing on the Far Side of the Moon in history. Like its predecessor, it deployed a small rover (Yutu-2) onto the surface just hours after landing on 2019-Jan-3. Since direct communications with Earth is impossible at their location, a relay satellite (Queqiao) is strategically positioned at the Earth-Moon L2 point to allow the data gathered by the mission to be transmitted back to Earth
