The second Death Star began construction shortly after its predecessor was destroyed in the Battle of Yavin. It was discovered by the Rebel Alliance hovering above the forest moon of Endor seemingly incomplete, but is secretly fully operational already. Despite this, they've managed to destroy it in the subsequent battle in 4 ABY shortly after the deaths of the Emperor and Darth Vader themselves
