Alouette 1 and 2 were the first two Canadian satellites in history. Launched in 1962 and 1965, The two satellites studied the Earth's ionosphere for 10 years until both were decommissioned by 1972 and 1975. Their derelict remains are expected to remain in orbit for another 1000 years
